Where and when do we donate our items?
We have two donation drop-offs.
Main location:
Mothers Helping Mothers
5933 N Washington Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34243
Times: Tues, Wed, Fri or 1st Sat of the month
from 8:30am – 1pm
(holidays excluded)
*Please do not leave any donations outside of our gate
South County Location:
Suncoast Community Church
8000 Hawkins Rd, Sarasota, FL 34241
Times: Mon – Thurs from 8 am – 4 pm
Trailer is behind office (the small white house)
How should we bag our items?
Use smaller bags
Grocery or white kitchen garbage bags are a great size as large black garbage bags are often too heavy for volunteers to handle.
Don’t knot the bag, please tie in a loose bow
We try to reuse all bags for other projects to save landfills. You are donating both the item and the bag!
Don’t put donations in paper bags
These are hard to handle – especially like grocery bags from Trader Joes
*We do not take hanger donations.
How should we label our donations?
Attach a simple label of what is included in each bag along with size, gender & age range
Clothing (i.e., women, men, girls, boys, toddler, infant, etc.), Linens (i.e., queen fitted sheet, twin blanket, etc.), Toys (age range), Shoes, Housewares (i.e., type), etc. We always are low on certain items and this would help give priority.

How to value your donation
IRS Guidelines
If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim a charitable deduction for your
Mothers Helping Mothers donations. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), a taxpayer can deduct the fair market value of clothing, household goods, used furniture, shoes, books, and so forth.
Fair market value is the price a willing buyer would pay for them. Value usually depends on the condition of the item. By law, a charity cannot tell you what your donated items are worth. This is something you must do yourself.
To assess “fair market value” for your donations:
Consult a local tax advisor who should be familiar with market values in your region
